Sue and Bic Bicknell are twins from Garstang, Lancashire, who have each pursued a lifelong career in art and design spanning more than four decades.

Their mother, Dorothy Bicknell, was widely respected for her talent as a painter and calligrapher and was a founding member of Garstang Arts Centre, the very space in which her children now exhibit.

Both Sue and Bic studied at Blackpool School of Art before going on to gain degrees in Graphic Design at Kingston and Newcastle universities, respectively.

After graduation, Sue spent much of her career at Springetts, a highly regarded London design agency, where she became a director and helped grow the business into an internationally recognised brand design consultancy. Throughout that time, drawing, lettering, and illustration remained central to her creative process. After a decade as a freelance brand design consultant, she has recently returned to hands-on image-making, seeking the creative freedom of her art school years. Her practice is rooted in visual communication, often blending typography and illustration – influenced by the painting talent and calligraphy of her mother.

Bic is a multi-award-winning designer and entrepreneur who has worked across consumer branding, structural packaging, film production, and model-making, and founded three successful London-based design consultancies. At heart, however, he has always been a traditional maker, and it is this instinct that now defines his practice, as he focuses on creating unique objects and restoring found pieces using traditional tools and techniques.

While their work is diverse and eclectic, both share a deep love of animals, from cherished pets to wild creatures of all kinds, a passion that shines through in several of their artworks.

Sue and Bic both accept private commissions, with pricing dependent on medium, size, and the time required to produce each unique piece.
