Garstang Ukulele Group
As the long, dark days of Winter gradually lose their grip, spirits start to lighten and moods lift. The temperature slowly rises, snow drops and daffodils begin to show that there is life after the dreary days of winter. In the past month we have taken our Rock and Roll show on the road visiting Care Homes and performing at birthday parties, always to generous applause. However this time of year is one of refreshment, revitalisation and fresh starts for our ukulele group. We are currently working on new material, exciting new arrangements and some surprises. Like the re-emergence of Spring flowers, our group is heading into the future with renewed vigour, optimism and excitement for what is yet to come.
You can always find out what we are up to or where we are performing on our website.
To those of you we played for last year, thank you for your continued support. Our resolution this year is again to support our Art Centre, bring fun and enjoyment to you all and raise more money for charity.
As ever, you can contact any member of our group, message us on our Facebook page, email Trevor Philips at mail@trevorphillips.co.uk or call 01995600378 and if you have never met us before why not find out just how well we can add some fun to your celebrations.

Garstang Poetry Appreciation Group
The Poetry Appreciation Group’s March meeting will be held on Friday 27th at 2.00 pm in The Garstang Arts Centre. The theme this month will be ‘The Poems of Betjeman and Larkin’. The meeting will be led by Gary Walmsley.
Non-members are always welcome. You can bring a poem or two to share with the group or just come along and listen to members reciting a selection of poetry around the theme of the month.
There is a cover charge of £1, refreshments are provided at the end of each meeting.
If you require further information contact Gary Walmsley 01772 785693

The Book Club
Our next meeting is on March 3rd. Our last book “Disgrace” created a huge, but generally agreeable, discussion. It was very thought provoking. Our next book is F. Scott Fitzgeralds “ The Great Gatsby”, set in the 1920’s, the Jazz Age. Jay Gatsby embodies the American dream but although he has the trappings of wealth, his long lost love, Daisy, has married someone else and lives close by, the rekindling of their passion has explosive ramifications.
Our membership is full at the moment and we have a waiting list.
