The work in this exhibition was created by a small group of artists/ art practitioners who have been working in a privately hired room in the library for around a year.
We come variously from here in Garstang and around the North West and share a love of life drawing. Not only is the exhibition the first time this range of work has been seen by the public, but it’s in many cases the first chance we’ve had to see each other’s work too.
For some of the artists, the drawing or painting is the finished work; for others, the drawing process is the thing; and for some the drawings inform further development, whether 2D or sculptural.
We hope you enjoy our exhibition and maybe it will encourage you to start (or resume) life drawing yourself. Whilst this group’s life drawing sessions are private, many of us also attend the Storey in Lancaster where life drawing sessions are held twice weekly – Saturday 10:30 – 12:30pm, Wednesdays 1 – 3pm – and they welcome all comers and all abilities.
Come and see a simple celebration of the naked human form at the Garstang Arts Centre Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am – 4pm, Saturdays 10am – 12:30pm
Open Until 29th May
