GARSTANG UKULELE GROUP
2024 was an incredibly busy year for our group. We played 48 gigs in a very wide variety of places – from gardens to garden parties, care homes to concert halls, at fetes and festivals, inside, outside and sometimes in between, but always bringing music and fun to as wide an audience as possible.
We play to bring our love of music to as wide a cross section of our community as possible. In so doing, with the help and generosity of the people we have entertained, we have raised money to support a range of local and other worthwhile causes.
This year we will have donated:-
£500 to the Arts Centre
£200 to Defying Dementia ( Lancaster University’s research programme into Alzheimer’s Disease)
£200 to St. John’s Hospice
£150 to the Memory Cafe
£150 to CRY ( Matthew Hesmondhalgh Memorial Fund)
Being able to support groups within our community gives a true sense of purpose to what we do.
Thank you for your very kind and generous support in 2024.  We hope, with your help again, to continue doing what we love in 2025.
Ruth McBride

THE BOOK CLUB
The continues to thrive and we now have a waiting list for people wanting to join.  Our next book choice is “Walking Home” by Simon Armitage, the current poet laureate.  He decides one summer to walk the Pennine Way north to south.  He is a modern day troubadour, giving poetry readings in pubs, churches and village halls to pay his way. It is a journey of unexpected kindnesses and terrible blisters.
Our next meeting is on Tuesday March 4th at 10.30am
