What’s on in December

Exhibitions
In her own words Dawn Pretty began drawing & painting “in the screaming heat of Africa”.
Happy childhood days were spent with her family in a remote farmhouse accessed through Tarzan jungle. Dawn owes her talent to the encouragement and example of her parents who were both accomplished artists. Recent work includes painting a large mural and sculpting dinosaur eggs and volcanoes at Fusion Trampoline Park in her Rock Native theming business.
Dawn’s exhibition opens on Tues. 19th November and runs to  Thurs 12th Dec.
Well known wildlife photographer Andy Stewart has been out in the local area and, over the past twelve months, has been photographing Brown Hares.  The results of his stunning photography may be seen in his solo exhibition commencing when the Art Centre re-opens after the Christmas break.
Entries are invited for the 2025 Garstang & District Open Art Competition/Exhibition to be held in January. Entry forms and further information may be obtained from our website garstangartssociety.org.uk or from me Sheila Tearle. Tel; 01995 603816  sheila@tearle.plus.com

Garstang Ukulele Group
The penultimate month of the year provides a moment to draw breath, take stock and reflect. There hasn’t been much opportunity for a lot of this as our ukulele group has been extremely busy throughout the year. Thank you for your continued support, enabling us to bring our brand of music into the heart of our community.
We have had 40 performances so far this year, which is amazing – garden parties, anniversaries, concerts, care homes, village halls, galas, church fetes and the art centre have all been our stage; we have also been peripatetic, busking in and around Garstang. Wherever an opportunity has presented we have been there helping to raise people’s spirits, raise money for charity or raise a toast at Celebrations. It is always our great pleasure to entertain you.
This month gives us the time to refresh our playlists and prepare our Christmas Show. You can next see us playing at both nights of Garstang’s spectacular Victorian Evenings. After that it’s up to you so please do get in touch and contact us by email at mail@trevorphillips.co.uk or call 01995600378 .
