Exhibitions
Andy Mercer’s main interest in creating art has always been “to experiment visually”
with differing subjects, techniques and styles; creating both representational and abstract works. He also enjoys creating more conventional landscape works and these are the works on show at his solo exhibition which opens on Tuesday 22nd October and runs until Thursday 14th November. www.andy-mercer.co.uk
Following on from Andy’s exhibition we welcome Dawn Pretty from Halesworth in Suffolk.
Primarily an artist painter but skilled in any subject which becomes successfully transferrable to the theming industry, we look forward to seeing Dawn’s eclectic artwork until mid December.

Garstang Arts Centre 200 Club
By the time you read this the Autumn Draw will have been drawn and somebody will be the lucky recipient of the £400 1st prize.
The full list of winners will be posted in the Arts Centre and I will publish the winning numbers in next month’s Green Book.
Many thanks to everyone who has once again supported this fund raiser for the Arts Centre.
I will be starting to collect the money from the cash-paying members soon after New Year. Thank you to everyone who has put their contributions onto credit transfer from their bank account. It makes collections so much easier.
Enjoy the run up to Christmas.

Volunteer Needed for the Arts Centre
We are looking for someone to take on the role of applying for the monies that are available to Charities such as ours. Lancashire County Council have a Crowdfunding scheme and other bodies such as the National Lottery Awards For All have funds which would help the Arts Centre with the ever increasing day to day running costs and also Special Events such as the Summer Celebration Festival of Arts and Music. Most applications for grants need to be made online, so someone with good IT skills is required. This is a great opportunity to make a real difference. Anyone interested call into the Arts Centre or telephone Anne Marie on 01995 603311
Garstang Poetry Appreciation Group
The group’s November meeting will be held on Friday the 22nd at 2.00 pm in the Arts Centre. The theme this month is ‘Nature Poems’. The meeting will be led by Graciela Lemos. NB this is a change from the annual programme.
Non-members are always welcome. You can bring a poem or two to share with the group or come along and listen to members reciting a selection of poetry around the theme of the month. There is a cover charge of £1, refreshments are provided at the end of the meeting.

Garstang Ukulele Group
The seasons may change, the evenings may be getting darker and the days colder but the warmth of the welcome we receive from our audiences never fails to uplift and invigorate us.
This has been a very busy month for us playing in a variety of halls and homes. New friends have been made and old friends revisited, as we extend our visits to care homes bringing a blast of afternoon fun and sunshine into peoples lives. Our playlists are always bespoke and designed especially for the audience we play for, to ensure as much pleasure, engagement and fun as possible.
Taking our Rock’n Roll show on the road has brought us the opportunity to showcase our versatility, explore the talent within our group and offer to our audiences a trip down memory lane with some of the best loved songs of the 50s and 60s. We have loved the response that this show has engendered.
As ever supporting local charities is our raison d’etre so if you think that we can add pleasure, fun, laughter and of course great music to an event or bring some brightness into a gloomy day then please do get in touch and contact us by email at mail@trevorphillips.co.uk or call 01995600378 .
