Garstang Arts Centre
The Executive Committee of the Arts Centre are looking for someone to take on the role of applying for the monies that are available to Charities such as ours. Lancashire County Council have a Crowdfunding scheme and other bodies such as the National Lottery Awards For All have funds which would help the Arts Centre with the ever increasing day to day running costs and also Special Events such as the Summer Celebration Festival of Arts and Music. Most applications need to be made online, so someone with good IT skills is required. This is a great opportunity to make a real difference. Anyone interested call into the Arts Centre or telephone Anne Marie on 01995 603311

For our fabulous Arts and Music Celebration we are calling for any volunteers to join our merry band of misfits for the following months events! Please get in touch with the Arts Centre either in person or email garstangartscentre@gmail.com

Garstang Ukulele Group
Feeling a little bit like Janus the Roman God who looked both back to the past and forward to the future this month.
We have so many joyful memories of playing at many different places in June, hosted by wonderful people. The warmth of feeling, generosity and joy we have experienced is everything to us. This makes GUG special; knowing that we can bring pleasure, through our music, to the community in which we live.
Looking forward, July and August are going to be even more exciting for us as we revisit old friends; make new ones; play most Thursdays in the Art Centre courtyard before the Summer Concerts; whilst preparing for our first ever centre stage appearance on August 22nd. If you like 50s and 60s music, like rocking round the clock and practising your hand jive then our lunchtime concert may be just what you need. We would love to see you there!
Contact: email Trevor Phillips at mail@trevorphillips.co.uk or call 01995600378 to find out more about what we can offer.

This month we have as our guest, local poet Ron Scowcroft. Ron will be reading a selection of poems from his various collections of poetry.
This is sure to be an interesting and entertaining meeting, please come along and enjoy the poetry and the company.
Non-members are always welcome. There is a cover charge of £1, refreshments are served at the end of the meeting.
If you require further information please contact Gary Walmsley on 01772 785693.

Ukulele Soup
Those of you who saw us at the Arts Centre last month will realise the massive changes that have occurred. We have grown to a 9-piece band and none of the new players own a ukulele!
As seen on TV and playing keyboards we have Alan straight from all 3 Blackpool piers, the Grand Theatre and Opera House.
As seen at Winmarleigh Village Hall and in and around Garstang, Stan and Eddie are now adding percussion, harmonica and additional vocals to Ukulele Soup.
We’re very excited at the difference this makes to our sound and hopefully to the pleasure we can bring to audiences.
Our upcoming gigs will be at Forton URC on Aug 7th, 2pm and at St Luke’s church, Winmarleigh on September 22nd, 1.30pm.
If you’d like to book us for your event, contact Bob Sapey, 07985713961, bobsapey@gmail.com.
