What’s on in May

EXHIBITION
We are delighted to welcome local artist Ava Joliffe back to the Arts Centre
for her latest exhibition ‘Paper View’.   At just 17 years old  Ava is an
award winning
Deafblind artist & designer who is changing perceptions of Deafblindness by
her determination
to advance understanding of this complex disability.
Her stunning digital portraiture of able & disabled people shows that art is
not just for the
visually able in creation, study or contemplation.
Ava’s exhibition may be seen from Tues 7th May to Thursday 30th May.

Garstang Ukulele Group
Why does it always rain on me?
Surely this has been the song on everyone’s lips lately, but surprisingly our ukulele group has been happily singing through the rain. A fantastic, joyful and uplifting night entertaining Gt Eccleston WI saw a lively group of Uke players bring to life our brand new dance-tastic set list.
You can see us next playing on Millennium Green on May 6th for Wyre Council’s Coronation Walk, weather permitting; then at Oakfield Care Home on Wed 8th May.
However, if you would like us to add music, fun and laughter to your celebrations then you can contact any member of our group, message us on our Facebook page, email Trevor Phillips at mail@trevorphillips.co.uk or call 01995600378 to find out more about what we can offer.

Lots of views aired and book titles shared at our April meeting. Members are enjoying reading different genres especially if it’s what they wouldn’t have chosen. Our next book is ‘The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot’ by Marianne Cronin. This is the story of two very old people who make a plan to create one hundred paintings from the stories of the century in which they have lived.
Our next meeting is on May 7th at 10.30 in The Arts Centre.
