Garstang Ukulele Group
Garstang Ukulele Group continues to go from strength to strength.
We are a diverse group of individuals united by our enjoyment of music. This year the group has evolved under the hard work and commitment of Trevor Phillips.
New members have brought a fresh energy and dimension to the group; while regular members continue to display their talents across a wide range of gigs and performances.
At the heart of what we do is supporting local charities and events. We have been able to make donations to the Art Centre and towards the Children’s Festival.
Whilst over the past year the group has performed for a very wide audience bringing songs, fun and laughter to people of all ages. From care homes to stately homes, from village halls to concert halls we have played them all. In the open air, at garden parties, birthdays and anniversaries we have entertained a wide cross section of our local community with a lively selection of songs both old and well loved and new(ish).
Garstang Ukulele Group is a fully inclusive music group that always welcomes new members.
If you are interested in joining us or just want to find out more about us then please contact Trevor at mail@trevorphillips.co.uk or by phone on 01995 600378

The Book Club
It was good news for the club this month as we received our first library loan, which means that all of us can access the book easily.
The first book that we’ll read is called ‘Light Perpetual’ by Francis Spufford and follows the lives of five children. What makes it interesting is that these children are dead, killed in a rocket strike in 1944. The author charts a future of what might have been, following the changes they would have experienced through the twentieth century.
Our two other suggested books are: ‘The Whalebone Theatre’ by Joanna Quin – a debut novel set in the 1940’s.It’s the story of Cristabel Seagrave starting in a theatre made of whalebones and ending in covert operations during the war.
Our final suggestion is ‘The House in the Olive Grove’ by Emma Cowell – set in a Greek village, it’s the story of three women, a chef, a journalist and a jewellery maker. We share the development of their relationships in the house in the olive grove.
The next meeting is on July 4th at 10.30.
