Garstang Ukulele Group
The Garstang Ukulele Group meet on Sunday Afternoons between 2 and 4pm and welcome anyone who is interested in learning to play the ukulele.
During the pandemic members took whatever opportunities they could within the regulation to meet and play outdoors. One Group played in a member’s garden and are known as the Garden Party.
They have recently played in three retirement homes raising £210 for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation in memory of a member of the group who had been treated at the Rosemere Centre.
On 23rd April we played for the 1st Garstang Scouts at their St. George’s Day Celebration and look forward to a busy month in May.

Garstang Musical Productions
Our Spring Concert “The Best Of GMP” was received brilliantly by our sold out audiences, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Kirkland & Catterall Memorial Hall which is a superb venue for us to perform.
We now move straight into the rehearsal process for our Autumn show “Oliver!” which is a really exciting time for our group and an extremely busy time for our Committee!
As always, we are keen to meet new people, and there are plenty of roles within GMP that take place behind the scenes! Amateur dramatics is a fantastic opportunity for people to practice, learn and share skills and knowledge. Costumes, makeup, hair-styling, painting, building scenery or front of house are just some of the important parts of putting on a show, so if you have skills in these areas please do get in touch.
We are on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, or contact Emily Hanson on 07803786895 for all enquiries.

The Book Club
We had a good meeting where most people had managed to read at least two of the selected books, so there was plenty of discussion. It’s always interesting to share our opinions of books that we have read. The three choices for May are: The Keeper of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan – a story spanning 40 years, this is a modern day novel telling the story of Anthony, an ageing man who has spent his life collecting lost things. On his death his housekeeper is charged with reuniting the items with their owners. The Dictionary of Lost words by Pip Williams – in 1901 the word ‘Bondmaid’ disappeared from the Oxford English Dictionary. This is the story of the girl who stole it. Our final choice is The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt in which 13 year old Theodore Decker survives a terrorist bombing at an art museum which kills his mother, as he leaves the museum he takes a small Dutch painting ‘The Goldfinch’ with him… the story continues.
The next meeting is on May 2nd at 10.30.
